Age of Shadows

House Placement Walkthrough

This walkthrough currently only describes house placement for classic houses, but the principle is the same for Dirt Plots. As soon as my accounts get AoS upgraded, I will complete the walkthrough for customizable homes.

For starters, you need to get yourself a house placement tool that you can purchase from the Architect NPC for 627 gp. It's the exact same thing as the former land surveying tool, so don't ditch the one you possibly have at the moment. As you can see, there are no more house deeds to be purchased.

once you find a spot that could possibly support housing, double-click your house placement tool and you will get the following gump:

This is what you will see if your account hasn't been upgraded to AoS, i.e., the Classic Houses only are available. Once you're AoS upgraded, you will also get the little arrow next to 2-Story and 3-Story Customizable Houses and they will highlight white. If you click the arrow next to Classic Houses, you now get this gump:

As you can see, the same classic houses currently available in game can be found here, with the maximum Storage (divide this number by 125 to know the number of secured), the number of items you can lock down on top of the secured containers and the price to place such a house. At the bottom of your screen, you see the amount of gold you possess in your bankbox, including checks. For the other house models, click the NEXT button.

Once you've successfully found a valid location, the house will automatically be placed. You will have about 20-30 seconds to agree or not to placement. You will get a big warning gump advising you that should you proceed with placement, any other house you possess will be condemned, blah blah blah. If you decide to place, just click OKAY, et voilà. Congrats on your new house!

The principle is the same for dirt plots. I strongly suggest that you choose the 3-Story Customizable House plots even if you only plan on building a 2-Story house for starters. Simply because if you decide to expand with yet another floor, you will have to tear down your house to upgrade it to a 3-Story which would kinda suck. Naturally, 3-Story house plots are more expansive but in the long run, they will prove to be a sound investment.

Once AoS comes out, I will add the walkthrough from people transforming their classic homes into a dirt plot, with how to deal with the special moving crate, etc.
