"Deeds, not stones, are the true monuments of the great."
– John L. Motley
Stone Crafting is a specialization of the Carpentry skill that allows you to create items made of granite, such as stone chairs and tables, statues and vases. You cannot become a stone crafter as long as you haven't achieve GM level in Carpentry. The upside however is that you do not need other 100 points to gain that skill. Fact is, it will not use any points at all. All you need to do, once you're GM Carpenter, is to acquire the book on "Crafting Valuables with Stone Crafting", that can only be found in Gargoyle City in Ilshenar.
To craft your stone items, you will need granite and a mallet and chisel. The mallet and chisel can also only be bought from Gargoyle vendors in Ilshenar but the granite can be extracted from any regular ore vein in the Old or New Lands. In order to make items, double-click your mallet and chisel and select the item you wish to craft. You will need to have the right amount of granite in your backpack or you will get a message indicating you do not have sufficient resources. The granite does not stack so you want to have as little items in your pack as possible in order to carry more.
Each granite weighs 10 stones and they come in the 9 same colors as ingots. Due to weight limitations and since you must have the right number of stones of any given color in order to make an item, you should always put in your bag all the stones of the same color before switching to the next.
When you open your menu, you can select the color of the granite to be used by clicking the "Normal" button (default color for white ore). When you select the different color, it will be displayed later on at that place. Like for any other skill, when you fail, some stones will be used up. Eventually, you will get the message "You don't have any stones!", meaning you no longer have sufficient granite of the color you were working with to create the item you were attempting to make. You will then have to either change color or get more granite in your bag.
Large tables and medium tables come in the format of deeds hued the same color as the granite used to make them. Know that when you place these items in your house, they work just like house add-ons. Once you've clicked the accept button, they become permanent fixtures in the house. The only way to remove them is by destroying them with an axe, and the deed will be returned to your backpack.
