The more you sweat in peace,
the less you bleed in war."

– George Hyman Rickover

Peacemaking is now one of the most powerful skills in UO for the hunter and the tamer. By simply playing your instrument, you can either stop all combat in your area or cause a specific creature to lose all agressive behavior for a short period of time. Imagine yourself face to face with a balron rendered as docile as a puppy by a simple pull of a harp's string. Or if you are tired of being set afire everytime you try to tame a dragon, to then find him suddenly paying more attention to those words of friendships.

To stop all battles within radius, you only have to use the blue gem beside your peacemaking skill (or hit your peace macro) and target yourself. If successful, every creature within range will stop fighting for a certain amount of time and it will cause players that were fighting to tab out. The creatures that will be affected must be within 8 tiles of the bard. But as your skills increase, so will your range of effect, ie 1 extra tile per 15 skill points.

To peace a specific creature but not the other ones nearby, use the skill and target the creature you wish to calm. All other creatures will continue to act as they were before. Note that using peace will not affect the fame/karma that will be received by the person that will actually kill the creature.

In both cases, the bard must remain within range of the peaced creatures or the effects will immediately wear off the minute the bard leaves.

Training Peacemaking

Peacemaking is extremely simple but slow to train. Since peacemaking is a bard skill, you will need Musicianship since your music skill will be checked first before the peacemaking is attempted. If you fail the music test, you will not even attempt to peace. So you should train music first so that your gains in peacemaking go faster.

Jump on a boat and start using the peacemaking skill on yourself. Then use the 8x8 method. If you are aiming to be legendary peacemaker, lock your music at 100 and train peacemaking up to 120. If your Musicianship is higher than 100 at the time you attempt to train Peace beyond 100, your peace gains will be much slower.
